What is Feng shui for your babies room?

So you’re having a baby!!”.. What’s the first thing that springs to mind? The
labour, of course! After all, anything before that is just.. well… nothing really…. or
is it??? Even after the bump has gone and you’ve popped your little bundle in
their new nursery -that’s where feng shui comes into play…..

So what do you need to avoid? Things like colours (which can affect skin tone),
shapes (no triangles for example) and even sound (doorbells ring in high notes).
So how do we combat against this? What should we look for when decorating
our Bump-to-Bundle room?? Well Nelson Home Interiors based in Cheshire have
put together a few tips and tricks to help you…

Babies need fresh air and light in their environment and I’m sure we can all agree
that it’s the little things…. which make a big diference. As well as this, colours
play a very important part in babies health – specially ‘cool’ colours like blue or
green – these are great for reducing stress levels, such as over-eating! Think
calming pastel shades (pastels have less vibrational energy than dark tones)
when decorating their room. Avoid using artificial light unless necessary and
instead opt for small touch lamps where possible. A table lamp is preferable to
an overhead fixture because the former casts softer lighting that’s easier on their
eyes, especially if they’re prone to headaches. When choosing furniture for your
little ones, again look for natural materials such as wood and cotton. Avoid
synthetic fabrics because even though they may be easy to clean, their artificial
nature means they have a shorter life. A nice idea is to use linen or cottons
sheets and blankets – because babies are often over-heated in bed leaving them
exposed to dust mites etc… BLAH! Over heating can also lead to rashes or
eczema so try not to opt for too many soft toys either – these should be kept at a
minimum (especially if you live in an area where it’s naturally warm!). Instead opt
for a few soft cushions that can be removed when the weather warms up, but
make sure your child isn’t allergic first!!

Not all babies are allergic to wool, but it’s always best to be safe than sorry!! Look
for lots of ventilation – large windows and doors should be used instead of air
conditioning. If necessary though, move the baby’s crib away from any artificial
heating such as radiators or even fires (which produce negative ions) when
they’re too young to understand fire is dangerous. Letting a window or door open
is much safer in this instance because it helps equalise the energy in the room
(or house). As your child gets older you’ll need to take more into consideration.
For example their immediate environment afects them just as much as
themselves does… This could mean avoiding bright colours on the walls if they’re
easily upset by colour or hanging heavy pictures above their bed etc… When it
comes to Feng Shui in your babies room, remember the main aim is for them to
have a happy and healthy childhood…

One thing we particularly love at Nelson Homes in Cheshire, are crystals!
Crystal’s help create a calm and peaceful atmosphere. It’s reported that they can
even balance the electrical energy in the body, projecting one into your babies
crib can help them sleep better! What about Feng Shui for outdoor areas?… Well
you’ll need to take more into account…. You’ll need to make sure there aren’t any
major obstacles (overgrown bushes) like this because they interrupt the flow of
Qi. Also remember that if there’s anything negative in your front or back yard, it
will reflect on your home – so climbing frames with barbed wire etc.. should be
avoided. Take some time to look at our other blogs which are all linked above –
I’m sure you’ll find something useful!
