Have you ever wondered why some bedrooms look more inviting than others? There is a reason for this. The designer knows the trick of maximizing the energy in the bedroom. It’s called Feng shui, which means “wind-water,” is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging your home to ensure good fortune. It’s a traditional technique used for centuries to create harmonious spaces that work with nature rather than against it.
This is not a new concept for us to learn, but it may be an old practice that we can implement in our everyday lives. The energy of a space is very important and we can make the most of it by adding some feng shui techniques into our bedroom decor. Adding some of these elements into your bedroom can make it feel more inviting, peaceful and comfortable.
Let’s walk through some feng shui tips on how you can maximizing the energy in your bedroom.
Position your bed correctly:
The bed is the most important piece of furniture in your bedroom. According to feng shui principles, it needs to be placed along an east-west axis with your head facing north or south depending on which way you sleep. The best place for this would be against a wall (ideally at least eight feet away from any windows) and with enough space on either side for you to be able to get in and out of bed easily.
It’s also good practice to leave some free space behind the bed so that it doesn’t feel boxed-in or claustrophobic.
Add some natural elements:
Adding nature into your bedroom is an easy way to bring positive energy and good luck into the room, as well as reducing any negative or stagnant chi (energy). You can do this by adding plants such as bonsai trees, flowers or cacti. You can also add some crystals or other natural elements such as seashells and rocks to fill empty corners in the room. Crystals like amethyst and clear quartz are good for balancing the elements in your bedroom. Feng shui crystals act as a bridge between heaven and earth, helping to bring positive chi into your space.
Add a mirror to your bedroom:
Give yourself, and possibly others in the room, more reflection by adding a mirror to an empty wall space. In feng shui, mirrors are meant to reflect energy and light into dark spaces. This is why you see them in most restaurants or offices as they fill up the room with natural light making it feel bigger and brighter. In your bedroom, this effect will be amplified because of the bed being placed against the wall. This will allow the energy to flow freely and provide a sense of balance in your bedroom space.
Bedroom Lighting:
Lighting is very important in your bedroom. It can affect the energy flow of any room, especially when it comes to feng shui principles. For example, having a bright light right above or beside your bed can cause you to have too much yang chi (active male energy) which will disrupt sleep and restlessness during slumber.
The best lighting for your bedroom is to have a soft glow coming from the moon, stars or candles. This will help create positive energy in your space and promote feelings of calmness throughout the room. It’s also important that there isn’t too much light otherwise it can be disruptive when trying to sleep. If you need more lights than just the moon, stars or candles then it is best to have them on the sides of your bed away from where you sleep.
Create a clear path:
Clear and clutter-free paths allow energy (chi) to flow freely through your bedroom. This means no piles of clothes on the floor, shoes left out in plain sight or other items that can impede upon this pathway throughout the room. The idea here is not about creating a space as much as it is about creating a clear space.
Don’t forget to have a clear pathway from the bedroom door to your bed. You can do this by having a small bench or stool at the foot of your bed so that it is easily accessible when you get dressed in the morning. This will help keep everything organized and free-flowing throughout the room, which creates.
Feng shui is about creating harmonious spaces that work with nature rather than against it. This can be applied to many different types of homes and rooms, not just bedrooms. So the next time you walk into your bedroom or any other room in your house take a look around and think how much energy could be flowing throughout this space. Think about all the ways you can make it feel more inviting and peaceful.
By following these simple steps, you can maximizing the energy in your bedroom and create an environment that feels calming and peaceful!
